## Where they differ

### The passkey is the whole comparison

PayBox requires you to sign each transaction with a passkey before it executes. For a payment vault holding cards and crypto that is exactly the right design — it is the reason an assistant with a spending limit is not terrifying. It also means PayBox cannot do the thing Fere exists for. A funding-rate strategy that has to act in the eight-hour window after a reset, at four in the morning, cannot wait for you to reach for your phone. Fere replaces per-transaction approval with per-strategy approval: you promote a strategy to live once, it runs inside a hard cap in its own wallet, and a kill switch sits on every screen. Different safety models for different jobs, and neither is the wrong answer to its own question.

### Two layers, not two products

A replacement framing would be dishonest here. PayBox is infrastructure — a wallet and an approval flow that any assistant can use. Fere is an application — the thing that decides what is worth doing. They meet at the same connector surface, because Fere also exposes an MCP server that Claude and ChatGPT connect to, but they meet from opposite directions. ## The short version
